Vogalonga

Vogalonga

It was 1974, in an increasingly fragile Venice and aimed at the use of motor boats, a group of friends and lovers of Venetian rowing decided to raise awareness of the importance of preserving the uniqueness of the lagoon.

It was born the wonderful adventure of Vogalonga, a non-competitive regatta of about 30 km along the Lagoon Islands and the most beautiful and picturesque places of the city. The first Vogalonga dates back to May 9, 1975, the day of the "Sensa". The meeting point was the Basin of San Marco in front of a symbol of the city, the Doge’s Palace. 500 boats arrived including mascarete, sandals, gondolini with crews from all over the coast ready for a unique and unforgettable experience. The event has continued to grow over the years and today there are thousands of participants coming from all over the world for Vogalonga.

Participating in the Vogalonga is an experience that will allow you to admire Venice from a position of excellence, the water. To register for the event you must be over 16 years old and own a rowing boat. See the official website for more information :-)

Some news about Voga alla Veneta

It has very ancient origins and is handed down from generation to generation. Voga alla Veneta requires an excellent balance and physical strength. There are two rowing techniques: with an oar used mainly in the canals inside the city or in Valesana with two cross oars, used to cover longer distances in large lagoon spaces. The latter is very demanding. If you want to experience rowing, there are many rowing oars in town where you can learn. Click here Surely it is a different way to admire our beloved city.
